Developed in the spirit of fostering education and mentorship in the field of peripheral nerve surgery, the ASPN Travelling Fellowship provides the opportunity for an ASPN member to travel to centers of excellence focusing in peripheral nerve surgery to experience the distinctive clinical, research, and organizational qualities these centers offer. Centers of excellence may include nerve clinic, operating rooms or laboratories.
Fellows must travel to at least one ASPN member center within the United States and then may travel to other centers of their choice inside or outside of the United States. There is no limit on the number of host centers a Fellow may visit. Fellows will arrange their travel and schedule, and will receive reimbursement of up to $5,000 to be used for airfare, hotel and transfers. Fellows will not be reimbursed for food and original receipts must be submitted for reimbursement.
Those eligible to apply must be ASPN members and have been in practice for no more than 11 years (graduation in 2007 or later). The recipient must be able to assure the Education Committee that he or she will be able to participate in the planned travel within the time frame of the year following acceptance of the award. At the conclusion of the award, Fellows will be required to present a summary of their experience at the ASPN Annual Meeting, and also provide a report and photos for publication in the ASPN newsletter.
