Message from the President

Message from the President Dear Members of the American Society for Peripheral Nerve,

This second ASPN newsletter precedes our Annual Meeting of the American Society for Peripheral Nerve (ASPN) which is approaching quickly and will be held in the Arizona Biltmore Hotel in Phoenix, Arizona from the Friday January 12th to Sunday, the 14th January 2018. I'm sure that most of you have already booked your flights or are doing so imminently and that you are hoping, like I am, that the weather will be gorgeous so as to enjoy the outdoors as well as the wonderful program that awaits you. For those who have not yet committed to attending the meeting, the additional hotels available should hopefully meet your requirements to allow you to attend and participate in a great meeting, as well as enjoy sunshine.

2018 Program Chairs' Update

Dear ASPN Members and attendees of the 2018 ASPN Annual Meeting:

With ASPN President Tessa Gordon and Program Co-Chair Alison Snyder-Warwick, we are delighted to present a preview of what to expect in Phoenix at our annual meeting. On Friday, January 12, there will be several combined instructional courses presented in coordination with the AAHS. Later that day there will be a joint AAHS/ASPN panel on contemporary management of nerve injuries, followed by our ever-popular ASPN Poster Session. An international panel on health care delivery will follow. On Saturday, January 13, we will hold combined programming with AAHS and ASRM, including a combined panel on Targeted Muscle Reinnervation. Our Joint Presidential Keynote Speaker will be Jeffrey Karp, PhD, who will lecture on biomedical innovation. On Sunday, January 15, we will hold a variety of instructional courses, followed by panels on facial reanimation, pain, novel innovations in nerve surgery, brachial plexus surgery, and a variety of historical vignettes drawn from the experiences of founding members of ASPN.

Looking forward to seeing you all in Phoenix!

Tessa, Alison and Greg

Where Are They Now?

The ASPN leadership interviewed three past recipients of the ASPN/PSF Combined Pilot Research Grant. Below are the responses from 2011 recipient, Dr. Jacob Alant, the 2015 recipient, Dr. Matthew Wood, and the 2016 recipient, Dr. Joseph Catapano. It is amazing how the ASPN/PSF Pilot Grant has made an impact!

To support future recipients of the ASPN/PSF Grant, consider making an independent donation, or a donation with your 2018 membership dues.
